Ovarian Cancer Support for Modern Day Women

I recently bought a little something from Witchery (for those outside Australia it’s a high street womens clothing chain) and whenever you buy something they ask if you’d like to purchase a breast cancer or ovarian cancer ribbon. Given the nature of products I focus on through impromptu (tampons, pads & condoms for modern day women) I thought I’d choose to purchase an Ovarian cancer ribbon and what a huge eye opener that turned out to be.

The money raised by Witchery supports the ovarian cancer research foundation and even if you can’t afford the donation (or don’t live in Australia) I’d highly recommend visiting this site as the information contained in it could save your life.

This week in the news we heard that the new US president Barack Obama’s grandmother died from a battle with cancer and that his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1995 at 53.

Ovarian Cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women but there is no simple screening test and because the symptoms are not recognised immediately it is often detected in the advanced stage of the disease, resulting in a high mortality rate. So please visit the OCRF site review the symptoms and if you have the time read the personal stories – but be warned you might need some tissues near by.

If you want to do something more for this great cause and love fashion check out the Witchery White Shirt Campaign. Witchery has created five beautifully crafted white tops that will be sold instore, with 100 per cent of funds going directly to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

The funds raised will go towards the OCRF’s goal to develop and implement an early detection test that ultimately becomes as readily available and habitual as a pap smear or breast mammography in every modern day woman’s regular medical.

So now you can shop knowing you’re doing it for a good cause!
